First Day

Holy shit, the rabbithole of data entry goes DEEP for this gig.

Seriously, they wanted some pretty high expectations from me on my first day and to say I felt overwhelmed would be an understatement of the highest order. Still, my brain reformed decently enough to finish up my first project, but I couldn't close it out before my supervisor left for the day.

Also, cell phones aren't allowed in there because a few females thought it'd be damned skippy to use Facebook/Twitter while they were taking a piss break. Way to ruin it for everyone else.

As it is, it's still a nice company if not the QUIETEST company I've ever worked at. Seriously, I felt bad talking over a loud whisper. There's lots of people and I don't know most of them yet, so here's hoping my good nature shines through.

Also, there was a guy with a shamrock-themed Cat-In-The-Hat Hat on today. It was groovy. No one minded.

Lastly, from what I understand, it's considered the norm for someone in my department to be considered 'fully trained' at somewhere near the SIX MONTHS WORKED mark.

Oh boy. I love a challenge.

I wish you the luck of Bill Gates, amigo.

And don't worry; I'm sure that even if you're unsteady in your duties now, someone like you will prove invaluable over time, because I know you'll devote yourself to whatever you do and make damn certain it's done to the best of your abilities. That's just how you are. :)

Want to know something extremely funny?

Today I showed up and yes it was indeed easier to process. They even admitted that a first-day overload is kind of a dick move, but they said there were reasons for it. And that it was encouraged to be THOROUGH rather than speedy.

But the funny thing is that the guy who was also hired along with me? One who had years of experience in data entry?

He bailed today. Didn't show up at all. I got told by the boss of the whole department that he was happy I showed up today and that I was doing a good job hanging in there.

So yeah. :3
