HOWTOs, Easier Passwords, Ratings Search

Community HOWTOs

Inkbunny has a lot of features and new concepts that can take some time to master.

Community members are starting to contribute HOWTO guides, which help explain common tasks or new ways of doing things that you might not be aware of.

You can always see the latest contributions under the HOWTOs section on our Wiki front page http://wiki.inkbunny.net/

If you have a guide that you'd like us to link to, please PM the info to

Site Updates

The new Sales system is still in progress. the old one remains disabled for now. Thanks for your patience with that!

Lots of important changes and additions have been made this week.

* Changed: Due to security improvements we have been able to relax the strict password requirements. Some passwords you have tried in the past that were rejected may now work.

* Added: You can now filter Search by Ratings. This means you can temporarily change your rating preferences when Searching. It also allows you to exclude ratings like "General" if you just want a search to find naughty stuff.

* Added: You can now filter the Members list by accounts with Uploads only. Just select it from the Sort Order dropdown. This is useful for browsing artists on the site and skipping past non-artist accounts.

* Added: We now use Google Analytics to track site traffic.

* Added: Google's Recaptcha system has been installed to replace our old Captcha system. http://www.google.com/recaptcha So now we contribute to digitising old books while protecting the site from bots and hacking!

* Added: Upload test scripts to help sort out the ongoing large-file upload bugs some users are experiencing: https://inkbunny.net/simpletest.php and https://inkbunny.net/progresstest.php

* Changed: Comment/Reply box is now at the TOP of the comments listings. This means you now don't have to scroll past a zillion comments just to leave one yourself.

* Changed: Improved horizontal space usage of Comments. The user icon takes up a bit less room and the comment text area is now a bit wider.

* Added: More screen resolutions are now supported with specially optimised backgrounds. The full list now includes these sizes: "320x480, 512x320, 768x480, 1024x768, 1229x768, 1280x720, 1280x768, 1280x800, 1280x1024, 1366x768, 1400x1050, 1440x900, 1440x960, 1600x900, 1600x1200, 1680x1050, 1920x1200, 1920x1080, 1920x1200, 2048x1080, 2048x1536, 2560x1600".

* Fixed: Repaired some issues in the Search system that got confused when searching for exact phrases.

* Fixed: Block/ban links used to show on accounts for Guest users. Oops. At least thanks to the security model, they didn't do anything.

I love the tweak to the comment box. Yeah, I know, it's probably not the hardest one you worked on.... is there any chance you might one day put the Artist Profile on the top of the page than the bottom? It seems more natural that way, but it's not anything really important. X3; Looking forward to browsing the HOWTO area!

I'm still getting used to the comment box at the top. Even though I put the big "6 Comments on this Journal" link thing up there, I still subconsciously think there are no comments because I see the reply box right away. xD But is this new way still better, do you think?

I'd have to say I like it more at the top, because before you'd have to scroll over a bunch of comments first (if there were alot). This way if you have messages you only have to scroll a little bit. Hahah.... I really do like this small layout change. Although I have to say I think this site in general has the best UI of any art gallery I can think of. It's simple, straight to the point and clean. I swear every time I visit DA it's a major lag even with cable internet speeds because everyone has to have a friends list with 100+ icons on it. lol

This is why I love this site. Constant updates & improvements, with great feedback to the community. Kudos!

I don't know how feasible it is, but it would really be nice to have batch keyword management.  Especially since the FA import script is importing FA category tags as keywords and is leaving a lot of submissions without proper keywords (like cub, scat, etc.).  Some artists have massive galleries that they're bringing over, and it would be a huge pain to manage the keywords one submission at a time.  Batch keyword management could help encourage those artists to properly tag their work, and give them an easier method to do so.

Yeah a few people have asked for this. Batch "assign" would be easy. Batch remove or change not so much. The interface would be complex. I mean, how do you display keywords when you choose 100 submissions and some of them have some of the listed keywords, but not all.. kind of a nightmare. xD

Doesn't the FA2IB script import all keywords assigned on the FA submissions? Seems to be doing that from what I can see. :O

I think it does, but not everyone uses FA keywords.

As for batch remove, I just figured that it might display the most common keywords of those selected submissions.

I didn't know reCaptcha helped improve Google's book indexing, or even that Google had anything to do with it, and had wondered why the boxes said "stop spam, read books". Thanks for the link about that!

Gotta admit, the site is downright difficult to navigate- let alone access any pictures. The thumbnails jump everywhere when I try to click them.

They shouldn't be doing that! What browser (with version), OS and resolution are you using?

Avant Browser 11.7- Build 36. OS is Windows XP I believe, computer is Compaq.

I'm assuming the problem is in my web browser.
