Sorry to say I'll pass. There's a real mess going on with what should be a very familiar and simple concept.

• Forcing each Santa to draw a specific character: That's silly and counterproductive. If an artist draws something they're not interested in, which is likely when you force a specific character or topic on them, the result is shit. You need to choose the nature of your gift to the recipient or the value of the gift beyond narcissistic vanity is lost. If you want to draw gift art for somebody but don't even have the decency to go to their page and learn about their content and what they like and choose which bit of it is your favorite or which you think you can make look the best, don't bother with gift art.

• Mixing in writing but segregating "cubs": So as I understand it you're basically running two separate Secret Santas: one for "cub artists" and one for everyone else. That's confusing and makes no sense... I have underage characters (some of them SFW!) and would accept gift art of them, but won't take part in rape culture i.e. won't draw almost anybody else's "cubs", so where would I go? I also have little interest in anything written by the furry fandom, and would not be happy entering Secret Santa as a visual artist and getting writing from mine.

• Pettier complaints: Why did you call out two artists by name, one of them an asshole who mocks rape victims, as idols and examples of fine furry art? That's in very poor taste.

So, maybe next year.

Thank you for your honesty! I apologize if the set up is not the best and doesn't hold to the value of gifts as well as a surprise would be. The way the secret santa is set up is to make sure everyone is able to receive something they would like, and so far all secret santas I have seen are set up in a similar way to ensure everyone is happy!

Some people will be specific with what they want while others will give complete artistic freedom, and santas would have to search their page in the way you described. This is why we have people specify what they will and will not do, so that nobody is forced to make something they don't like, such as rape. Some people prefer only adults, only cubs, or will do anything! Whether it's from personal preference or set of skills. So I am not making it one or the other, just as I wouldn't make it clean or adult. I will pair everyone to make sure people are comfortable with what they give and receive.

We also have options for what you will contribute and receive so that you have the option to receive only art or only writing or both. If you don't want to receive writing, simply don't check the box for stories.

As for the two artists, it's unclear what you are talking about. If you are referring to Jacinth and Lyrra, I am only providing credit for the host of previous secret santas. If that's the case, then I'm sorry, but there is nothing I can do about that.

The secret santa is to help bring people of the community together, find new members to watch, and bring fun and joy to the holiday season! If you still find the set up of the Secret Santa unsatisfactory and choose not to participate, then that is your choice. If you have any further questions,comments, or suggestions on how to improve, you are free to message me. Happy holidays!

1. secret santas aren't really all about doing what YOU want, it's about gifting something to someone else. many secret santas DO have areas where you list the character you want to be drawn/written about. i think... that's the whole point?? I would NOT want someone going to my page and randomly choosing a character, especially if it's one i don't feel comfortable having art drawn of them by other people. and that's most of my characters

2. i don't draw cub so it's a good thing they added the option not to receive it. there are again, plenty of secret santas that offer the option to opt out of NSFW content or for you to specify if you don't feel comfortable with a particular subject. cubs included. If i was randomly paired with someone who wants cub, and the host saw that, they'd redo the random pairing until i got someone who doesn't want cub art.

joining anyway tho, i love this kinda stuff even in this kind of community. can't wait to see what people come up with

I've done Secret Santas since @Lyrra and

came up with the idea.
Basically, you have a lot of options to choose from when it comes to who you are paired up with. You don't want some complicated design? you can specify what you don't feel comfortable drawing. You can opt in/out of a certain age group and the rating level as you seem fit. To top it off, you can ask for what type of content you want, whether it's art, writing, etc. and you have a lot of checkboxes to fill out from.

You're not "forced" to choose, it's a randomized Art Trade that fits your preferences.

Also I disagree with Fibs, if they actually read the fill out form they would see that you can choose your options and that if they wanted too they can point out things they like drawing/things they don't like drawing, and regardless of a person's personality if they are talented they are talented, its a sad fact of life.

This would be fun to try but I feel like lately I lack any motivation to draw at all. I’ve been burned by the furry community so I don’t think I necisarily want to give back to people who have been so mean. I’d rather do gift art for actual friends of mine. But even doing gift art is risky because I’ve given it so some people and they just treated me like shit for trying to do something nice.

I don't really have my own OCs since I mostly art for other people, so was wondering if there was anyway to just sign up as a back up gift provider in case someone doesn't follow through? Love the idea of helping out someone else, but don't really need anything in return.

Theoretically yes ^^ though I'm not sure if anyone would be interested in it unless you're able to customize models to fit their character.
