Since i'm a big 'ol weeb and love me some animoos, I figured I'd share my thoughts for the anime I've chosen to watch this season (will be amended once Crunchyroll finishes posting all the anime they're doing this season). Keep in mind this isn't really a review so much as me recomending stuff or giving my general opinions of them. I will paste the desctiption thats on CR for the anime, and then what I think of it and whether or not I will keep watching it. Because I currently have 12 anime in my queue to check out I will make this into two parts, six episodes a piece, in no particular order.
Kinos Journey: The Beautiful World The Animation - "The world is not beautiful, therefore it is." A story about Kino, who travels around the world with nothing but her guns for protection and talking motorcycle Hermes. Kino travels to many mystical worlds, each with its unique customs and people, and learns about the world through their stories, at times conjuring humor and inspiration or other times piercing cynicism. However, Kino has her own custom, to stay no longer than three days in every town without exception, as it is enough time to learn almost everything important about the place while still leaving time to explore new lands.
I dunno how I feel about this one yet. Character(s) seem interesting enough, and the world itself similarly interesting. I will have to give this one another episode or two to see if it grabs me, but as of right now it likely will get dropped
Twocar - Today's the opening day for the high school division of the racing kneeler exhibition! Ladies gather from across the nation, determined to win in the "kneeler race." Today's race is to introduce this season's contestants. No one will be pushing themselves to the limit just yet, but you can expect that at the competition. So begins the female racers' fight for first place!
I'm not typically a fan of sports anime, only really enjoying All Out!! and Yowamushi Pedal in recent years, but I'm a huge fan of sidecar racing. I have been ever since the first time I saw the sport done in Ah! My Goddess. So I decided to give this one a go. I quite enjoyed the first episode. The two lead characters seem to get along well, and the writing feels believable and realistic for what it is. I look forward to the next episode
Dies Irae - Ren Fujii is a normal student who just had a fistfight with his former best friend, leading him to break off their friendship. But with the help of his childhood friend, Kasumi Ayase, and upperclassman, Rea Himuro, he's gradually returning to his normal school life. Then a series of brutal murders in which the victims are decapitated begins to strike their city. Strangely, at the same time, Ren starts to have terrifying nightmares of being beheaded by a guillotine. But these are just a prelude to the painful and terrifying battles to come.
I uh.. legitimately am unsure as to what the fuck happened in this first episode.. its all over the place narratively, and the visuals consisted of a bunch of fight scenes and then a bit of talking then some screaming and fighting... gonna give it another episode to see if it clears itself up any.
Taisho Mebiusline Chicchaisan - It's the closing years of the Taisho era, a turbulent time when the military empire of Japan is rising to go to war with the world. The protagonist, Hiiragi Kyoichiro, has come to the Imperial Capital, Tokyo, to attend Imperial University. He is determined to pursue a scholar's path and become a great man back in his hometown. But now the Japanese army has set its sights on Kyoichiro, because of a special ability that he possesses. As a result of a terrible illness from his youth, Kyoichiro gained the ability to see the spirits of the dead.
I didn't even watch this one due it being only 3 minutes long. i typically do not enjoy the super short form animes... and judging by the score it has on CR right now (2.5 at the time of writing this) others aren't so interested either. However don't take my disinterest in the format turn anyone away from checking it out
Kings Game - Kanazawa Nobuaki has transferred to a high school far from where he used to live. Due to an incident at his old school, Nobuaki is afraid of getting close to his new classmates and keeps himself at a distance, but he starts opening up because of a sports day inter-class relay. Then, a single text message from someone calling themselves the "King" is sent to everyone in class. Nobuaki’s classmates think it's a simple prank, and don't take it seriously--but Nobuaki knows that a death game is about to begin, and struggles to oppose it
this ones pretty interesting and may prove to be quite gory through its run. Is kinda edgelordy though may not be for everyone. Ending song is Coldrain - Feed the Fire
Rainy Cocoa - Amami, the owner of the Rainy Color café, assigned Nozomu Tokura as the manager of the new shop in Hawaii. Even though life of Nozomu is increasingly hectic toward the opening, he and his new fellows in Hawaii keep positive and make their efforts trying to get everything down. Can they make it by the date of opening?
Another super short one (2 minutes thirty seconds) so will be skipping it as well, does have some pretty mens and some nice looking doggos in the art though so, thats always a plus :D
Thanks it for the first lump of this, check back for more later :D
