The real problem is the popup ads they serve. Actually, it's not their fault, it's the advertisers.
Why do you even care? Well, earlier today, I ran into a redirection to a site hosting an 'Adobe Flash ''Update'' on desktop and a fake Google virus alert on mobile .[iOS]
That's not to say that ALL ads served on NM are bad.

This is one reason we just don't have ads. More trouble than they are worth, especially for the kinds of third-party ads you'd be able to put on here (FA trialled them for a short time, and quickly saw a user backlash which forced them off again).
