Furoticon... All gone?

So i got into card games a while back and the other day remembered that Furoticon was a thing.

Looked into it and is all quiet on the western front.

Is it for sure dead? Kinda wanted to see if I could get art in to it but I guess I missed that boat.

Too bad no digital game software to test it. :p

Last I heard, they where working on a online way to play it.  And if that fell through, I'm sure that there is some furry/furries out there that can get everything together and add it to the table top simulater game on steam.

The game is pretty much dead.

Due to mis-management and other issues surrounding the online version of the game the company has mostly shut down.  Pre-orders for the second half of the last expansion are due to open sometime in November.  After that, there will most likely be no more Furoticon once their remaining stock is sold.

A version of the game for Tabletop Simulator on steam is currently in the works, but it most likely won't be posted to steam's storefront.  It's sounding like it'll be something you have to download and then patch in yourself.

I have an old upload of it on Tabletop Simulator, from before it was removed from the workshop. Could likely give that to you, if you want. It's just cards though, you'd have to look up how to play it elsewhere :P

I nearly got a gig to animate out an ad for that game, it didn't feel like the card game idea didn't get very far, surprised anyone even remembers it

Yeah, I have it on Tabletop Sim, probably the one Link made. Would be kinda neat to have the cards in person, but it's expensive :P I love the card concepts and a lot of the art on them. Shame that it fell off the horizon :(

Do you know how to still put it on Tabletop Sim ;w; I've always wanted to get furoticon on it but I was too late before it was removed from the workshop.

I think there is a way you can get it on manually, but you would have to look for the source person who put it up in the first place. They might have an acount somewhere that links to the files, but I'm not sure. I would try googling it. If you need, though, I can look for the name of the mod author in my TTS when I get the chance :)

I thought it looked neat enough, but I never bothered investing in it cause I figured the fan base would be a rather small venn diagram of furries that like Magic the Gathering. Furries are already a small enough group, and then to take the segment that like MtG, and then know that percentage of the fandom that does like MtG is spread all over the world; "when am I going to find time/people to play this?" is a pressing question. Maybe cons, but I'm usually busy at cons.

So it just didn't seem like something I wanted to invest in. Especially since it's the kind of game that the more you invest in it, the more incentivized you are to further invest. I don't need to fall down that well.

Of course that last concern is why I don't play Magic the Gathering either. XD

Edit:
Although, how awesome would an incest based expansion be? >:3
*Slips a little down the well*
Noooooo!

I've seen it here and there in photos people take of furry cons, so I guess the community just went back to being very small?

well I'm super late to the party but I've actually talked to the creator of the game at a gaming con and asked a bunch of the same stuff and it's bad news with some silver lining.

Furoticon is not supported anymore and has no real or anticipated future. The game evolved rapidly and started to pick up a good tournament scene at events. They even had a double wide booth at Origins Game Fair a couple years back which has nothing to do with furries. So that was pretty bold and awesome. Finding players outside of big events was still hard though and so bringing it online seemed like the best next step. Except long story short, the dev team for the project needed a lot more policing (or just fired) than normal and that wasn't realized by management until it was way too late. They were a freaking train wreck and gobbled up all money raised for the project without actually managing to complete even a partial prototype by the time funds ran dry. And so the project and the game at large collapsed because too much was riding on that.

That said, cards still exist, players still exist and trade. The game will live on with them but it'll be a lot harder to start from scratch here soon. (it seems my splurging on the game was a good idea now). So it's not completely lost.

One more thing, the creator of Furoticon is an avid game designer and has been hard at work on new (SFW) stuff. Rebranded under the name "Infinite Heart Games" their first publication is soon to launch with prototypes already at shows this past summer. The game is called "Rabbit Island" and is quite promising (and absolutely gorgeous too). So here's to hoping it does well and they can keep on trucking. Might even allow for some surprise expansion/reprinting of furoticon too.

Sorry for the wall of text but I hope it helps.

Edit: forgot to include the link to the new game's website. Infinite Heart Games
