I saved a turtle today!

He was walking away from the local river towards a park, I brought him back.
He did manage to bite me though right before I got him in the water! It was my own fault cause i put my hand infront of his face to reach for my phone for a picture.

Hahahaha!
Lucky for me I knew what species he was already, he was definitely an aquatic turtle.

Well I didn't throw it per say, but yes I placed it in a river near by.

You are lucky it wasn't a snapping turtle...Those can easily take off a finger.

I have saved many box turtles from where they chose to sunbathe on roads and highways.

I saved a snapper from a highway once...But I had a rake with me at the time, and used the rake to push the turtle off the road. That snapping turtle viciously attacked that rake like you would not believe.

Yeah haha, it was actually being quite a good sport up until it had a clear moment to bite me.
Lucky I knew how to handle a turtle like that, I just underestimated how much attention it was paying to my hand haha.

As messed up as it sounds, in some parts of the U.S., there are actually the nut jobs out there, that if they see you rescuing a turtle, they will dial 911 on their cell phones and report that you are "harassing and molesting the wildlife"...or try to report you as being a poacher.

Those kind of wingnuts are so Hellbent on "hands off the wildlife", they would rather see an animal get squashed beneath the wheels of a car or truck than to see someone take them to safety.

Some people are quite short sighted.

...And just plain stupid...and nosey.
I guess those kind of people get the illusion they are a Marvel comic book super hero when ever they seize the excuse to hit that #9 key and #1 key twice on their cell phone to stir up some kind of shit on someone.

It's like, with a jumpsuit and a cape, "Here comes Captain Tattle-Tale!...Quick to dial 911 on all bad guys and evil doers!"...And if you try to get away, Captain Tattle-Tale will follow you allover town in his nerd-mobile until you get caught.

My brother and I once found a turtle covered in leeches. We grabbed it and pulled the leeches off and then let it go. It ran and jumped into the river.
