I've been drawing my whole life, but it's never something that's been especially easy for me. Some parts of it, like drawing from a photo or still life, have come natural, but for non-real things, like furries, it's always taken a lot of time. I'm never quite satisfied because I always aim for realism, and that just doesn't work in cartoons. Did I position the shoulders correctly? how should I do torso proportions for a character? Because I'm so self-conscious about my art, it takes forever to draw, and I never feel it's good enough to post. In the end, especially over the past few years, it's been easier for me to do other things that I'm good at, like photography, than to expend the time and effort trying to draw something that I may never show anyone.
Then I look at my gallery, and holy shit I haven't posted anything in 3 years. It didn't feel like that long. I sketch, I draw, has it really been that long since I actually drew *something*? I do consider myself an artist but if I don't do art I cant really be an artist can I?
So this is what I'm doing, now. I got a drawing tablet, and I'm shocked at how well it works. I'm drawing, and I'm going to post my drawings. I've got a comic in the works, and I'm going to make myself finish it. I'm challenging myself with poses and positions I'd normally not do, and I work on them until they look good enough. I know that in this stage of development, I'll look back in a few years at this comic and think "oh wow how could I have ever thought that was worth posting?" I know it wont be perfect. There will be weird anatomy, things wont have the same proportions frame to frame, but this is how I get better, and I will get better.
I know not many people will see this, because I never had much of a following, and then there's been 3 years of silence, but maybe some people will see it when it's first posted, and I aim to increase that number in the coming months.
