The law mentions "a child" - but a gorilla cub isn't legally a child, because it's not "a person". There is a clause to prevent people drawing (human) children and then putting ears or tails on them, though - this came up in the debate on it to deal with nekos and the like - which is why we have similar provisions.
All that said, it's up to your own comfort level as an artist!
