Novaflame was the leader of the flames of glory trine, his trine mates Plasmafire and Scorched Skies were slain in battle when their home city of Vos was attacked. He has no recollection of who was responsible or why it happened, all he remembers was one Autobot medic named Ratchet who showed kindness, and came to the conclusion that it had to have been the Decepticons who attacked, but he had no proof of this, thus he could never bring himself to blame either side, and thus he could not harbor any real hatred for them.
The way he saw it is that the ones responsible were just a bunch of hostiles, nothing more, faction meant nothing, he knew several Decepticon civilians who were innocent and merely believed in Megatrons call for revolution, for they believed that the Autobot government had corruption within its highest ranks and thus many lower classes, and whatever race senators who were corrupt deemed unworthy, received very little respect and were often impoverished. Thus was why Novastrike could not bring himself to Join the Autobots, while he knew not all Autobots fell under the corruption of the select few politicians, he did not want to end up following their rotten orders should he find out that the rumors and Decepticon retoric turned out to be true.
He did not wish to join the Decepticons because he knew that while there was bound to be corruption in the Autobot faction, there was just as much corruption within the Decepticons themselves, he saw what Megatron was becoming, he knew Megatron was well on the way to loosing sight of his original goal, and he wanted no part of that as well. After Novaflame recovered from his injuries, he was nervous and distrusting of others, the horrors of the attack and loosing his family was fresh in his mind and would take time to recover from the shock of losing so many loved ones. He would have night terrors about loosing his brothers and finding his creators dead, and barely touched any energon given to him. It was Ratchet that once again helped him when he collapsed from being underfueled for so long.
realizing this was a Seeker who had suffered more than just physical injuries, but emotional ones as well, Ratchet helped him cope in every possible way, and eventually he began to come around and came out of his shell and revealed the kind spark that is Novaflame. Years later, after he left Cybertron, he came across a planet that seemed rich in energon, and was inhabited, so he decided to check it out, but as he was getting there, he was ambushed by a rogue Decepticon and before he knew it, he was crashed on a strange planet inhabited by organic life and the predominant species were a small ape like race that the archives had listed as human beings. he knew he had to find an earth based alt before he was discovered, he found himself attracted to an F-16 fighting falcon and scanned it then returned to his now cloaked ship-turned base camp.
