I am a lifetime artist, drawing since I could hold a pencil in hand at around age two. I am also a third generation artist. My maternal grandfather painted sailing ships, my father drew technical drafting as well as logo and heraldry designs in his spare time, and my mother painted still life, portraits, animals, and landscapes. I inherited an inate talent as an artist as a result. However, it has taken me a lifetime to learn the skills to properly use that talent, from books to classes at school to things my mother has taught me. I am also an avid reader, being a third generation book hound, and I have loved books pretty much my entire life.
I am not just an artist, I am also a writer, though I do not have as much confidence in either skill as I probably should. I do what I can with the skills and knowledge I have, though, and people really seem to like what I do. Being the avid reader and researcher that I am, it helps me with my writing quite a lot. The best advice I have been given which I have passed on to to others is this: When you write, use the whole language. Do not keep writing the same words over again, grab a Thesaurus and find new and creative ways to say what you mean to keep it interesting for the readers.
I am an avid scifi and fantasy fan, having grown up watching things like Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Last Unicorn, The Secret of NIHM, Watership Down, Knight Rider, Airwolf, Battlestar Galactica, The Dark Crystal and other Jim Henson films, and many others, along with a fair number of very awesome cartoons such as Transformers, Thundercats, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Dungeons & Dragons, Thundarr the Barbarian, Bravestarr, Terrahawks (Marionette Animation), and others. We all have our favourites after all.
I have been a Transformers fan since the Generation 1 series started on September 17th, 1984. I enjoy the G1 series, as well as Beast Wars/Beast Machines, War for Cybertron/TF Prime, and the live movie series, along with various comic series like the IDW Ongoing series and several others. My favourite characters include Soundwave, Ravage, Laserbeak (from DotM), Optimus Prime, Ironhide, Jazz, Wheeljack, Ratchet, Mirage, Kup, BW Tigatron and Tigerhawk, and TFP Knockout.
Other favourite characters include Panthro from Thundercats, 3030 from Bravestarr, Battlecat/Cringer from He-Man, Ukla from Thundarr, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo from Star Wars, Khan Noonien Singh from Star Trek (though my favourite aliens are the Klingons), Aragorn and Gandalf from LotR, KI2T and KARR from Knight Rider, Dominic Santini from Airwolf, Apollo from Battlestar, EDI from Stealth, Tron/Rinzler from Tron, Eliot Spencer and Parker from Leverage, and a few others.
I grew up going to Black Powder Rendezvous and Pow Wows, I later got into Mideval Recreationism and Scifi/Fantasy conventions. I have done Recreationism Role Playing since I was four or five years old, making my own costumes, beadwork, leatherwork, embroidery, and other crafts since I was a teenager, Table Top Role Playing since I was eighteen, Live Action Role Playing (outside of Recreationism) since I was twenty, and On Line Role Playing since 1998-1999. So, as you can see, my Role Playing experience is quite extensive, along with my many other interests.
I have also worked security at various events, such as conventions and Renaissance Faires, a trait I inherited from my father, who was in the Air Force for 21 years and became full time armed security upon retirement. His father was in the Army Air Corps and became a Police Officer upon retirement from the Military, then went to work for Boeing after that. I suppose you could say security and protection runs in the family too.
I have been an Eclectic Spiritualist Pagan since I was sixteen after being raised with my Cheyenne Totemic Shamanism heritige along side my mother’s Southern Baptist faith. At twenty-nine I became an ordained priestess. I am an energy worker and a healer of the body, heart, mind, and soul, and I have been for as long as I can remember, skills and abilities I inherited from my mother’s side of the family where I get my Cheyenne heritage from through her father.
I keep telling people I am an eclectic person by nature, but most either do not believe me or they do not know what that means. Maybe this will clear up the confusion people seem to keep having over that.
