I picked up video editing a month ago, because so many great animations are just short, single-scene clips and I really wanted something more pleasing to watch, so I just mashed some videos together.
But sometimes the length of individual clips was too short, so I experimented with proper timing. Some videos look great but are way too hectic, so slowed them down to better enjoy the details.
But that made animations less smooth, so I used frame interpolation. And upscaling, in case I want to zoom in without jagged edges. That led to camera panning, which led to pacing, flow, scene transitions and timing.
And why do some artists deliver their work with sound and some don't? Now I have to fix that, too, which I experimented with in both directions: Adding lewd sounds from VAs and a bucket of jello to silent scenes, as well as removing sounds in favor of music, which then of course has to perfectly sync with the action! Beats-per-minute, eh?
So there: an effort to more lazily watch porn turned me into a fledling editor. 😛
