Asriel's outfit kinda looks a bit like the Dark Lich from Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3, even his angsty dialogue text.
Undertale is good for the soundtrack (kinda makes me think like... if Hiroki Kikuta collaborated with the chiptune band, Anamanaguchi) and the concept of mixing bullet hell mechanics with turn-based / menu based RPG elements is unique and interesting... but honestly, I just like the goat kid - he cute and stuff. And those tunes. Half the time, I like the music from stuff more than whatever it came from, hah.

Totally am not ripping on the composer in any way, rather saying that it is because of these similarities in musical theme and emotion that I appreciate and enjoy the music... and I figure the creator had to have at least ~some~ influence from Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3, as those are pretty "heavy on the feels."
I think maybe the O.P. is just annoyed about the fandom ~around~ the game, or something, like some people are annoyed at Steven Universe for having a large percentage of fans who are "SJW?"

I watched someone play the fight against Sans.... that "having to dodge a bunch of walls really really fast" bit totally makes me think of the Turbo Tunnel from Battle Toads.
