I got to watch the Good Dinosaur on Tuesday this week, and let me just say, this film was very touching and gripped me in more ways hen one. Lets start of.

Story: Arlo lives with his family live together in a valley where they farm and raise crops. after his brother and sister (Libby and Buck) get to put their marks on the silo for their acts of significance, Arlo is wanting to make his mark as well and ties to do his duty but is quite timid and afraid, after being separated from his family on account of an accident with the human critter Spot, he must team up with Spot to find his way back home. This is a movie where you might have to wait for things to happen, but in my opinion, it's nice to have a film where things can start slowly and begin to take off later, it gives the film some much needed pace unlike films such as Lego movie where action can take off right from the start, this movie tells its story at the pace it needs.

Characters: Arlo (Raymond Ochoa, Dash in Disney Infinity) is a easily frightened Apatosaurus who wants to be like his father and leave his mark on he silo next to his family. He learns about being courageous and not letting fear get the best of him even if being afraid is all part of the process. Spot (Jack Bright) is a caveboy whom Arlo befriends and sort of becomes something of a canine companion to him, but has more heart in him then you think. Thunderclap (Steve Zahn, Runt in Chicken Little) is a Pterodactyl who along with his posse, gorge themselves on the weak in order to survive. His belief if that "The Storm Provides" Butch (Sam Elliot, Ben in Barnyard, The Big Lebowsky) is a Longhorn herder along with his daughter Ramsey (Anna Paquin), and his son Nash (A.J. Buckley) who got scars due to crocodile attacks. He thinks nothing of Arlo at first, but after they help get his heard back from rustlers, he has more respect for him. All of these characters fit nicely into the movie and in no way hinder it's progress. The voice acting was well suited to the characters and even making Arlo a child was the right way to go. it made it more engadging for children to be able to follow along and even relate to the character more. The friendship between Arlo and Spot was definatly the films strong points and even gave me tear jerker moments that (surprisingly) made it more emotional then Inside Out.

Animation: Wow, I gotta say, this film is very pretty. While the Dinsosaurs themselves still have that cartoony aesthetic that you'd expect in most animated films, the landscape and weather effects are just beautiful and breathtaking to look at. While I have stated in the past that the Peanuts Movies locations look realistic and pretty, this films locals are just beyond anything that any company can render. Almost like looking at real scenery

Music: Now, I was kind of expecting some kind of tropical mix of music similar to something like in Dinosaur Planet (Star Fox Adventures) or The 2013 Walking with Dinosaurs (Blech!) movie.but what they did here was actually kind of nice. The film found itself in more of a prairie/western kind of vibe with some nice set pieces that compliment the scenery. Thanks to Mychael Danna (Life of Pie) and his brother Jeff Danna (Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Silent Hill: Revelations) hey gave us the right amount of instrumental to give this film the ambience it needs.

Now, overall, in my opinion, I give this film a 8.5 out of 10. I feel like this film is getting too much flack. Most people don't like it, and I can understand if you don't, but heres the thing, the film had to go through some renovations to get to the film that we all know it as today for reasons. and I think with what they came out with is a fine example of what we can expect from Pixar. It's not top quality as others, but to me, it was a great film none the less. It got me to cry more times then Inside Out. Is it better then Inside Out? In my opinion, no, but I still count it as a personal favorite of mine with some deep connections. I say check it out.

also, the Pixar short that came with it, Sanjays Super Team, it was pretty cool. I love the use of Hindu figures and just the hindu culture in general, a lot of Pixar's films kind of lack that sense of foreign taste and this short was really cool with what it could produce with nice imagry, great use of colors, and a cute/cool  story to boot.
