Maybe I’m weak, or a wimp or something

But negativity just gets to me.

I guess I’m just more of a fan of positive reinforcement.

I just don’t get enjoyment in a meme based on a fake story written to promote transphobia, even if it’s some kind of attempt to reclaim it.

So yeah…I’d rather “up” something than “down” anything.

None of my (4) sonas are cis, but I didn’t include Muyu, who’s both sex-less and agender, and Cassius who is a dragon and can’t really wear a shirt.

Carmen (the bear) is a soft spoken girl who is finally happy with her appearance. She takes hormones, and has had top surgery, but isn’t planning on getting anything else done. She’s happy with what she has now. She doesn’t mind being open with her identity.

Bechamel (the cat) uses masculine pronouns, but isn’t against neutral pronouns. He won’t answer any questions about his genitals. That’s not anyone’s business. He’s who he is, and if someone isn’t happy with not knowing more than that, then they’re not worth his time.

Both of them are some part of my identity, in a way.
Carmen is kind of a goal. Not in body, but in acceptance. I am not happy with my body yet, but I hope to be one day.
Bechamel is how I wish I would be (only difference being that I like neutral pronouns the best.)

(note: if you don't know what I'm talking about, don't mind it. I'd rather not discuss it)

Ahh cuddly cuties <3

I wish you the best of luck in doing whatever you feel you need to become happy and comfortable with your body. Everyone deserves that much.

I understand why people can be so hateful on an intellectual level, but I'll never grok it emotionally. It doesn't make sense for me and never will.

Hating anything that doesn't harm/hurt you seems pointless to me.
I don't know why so many people thrive on hate.

tumblr is ... strange. Up with everybody!

I know you don't mean bad, but "up with everybody" takes away from the focus.
In that situation: Trans people don't have the respect/rights/representation cis people have, so cis people don't need the "up", they already have it.
Comparing it to the "black lives matter" vs "all lives matter" it's the same thing. Everyone is quick to remind that their lives matter, even though everyone already knows that. Facts are that black people are at much higher risk of losing theirs.

That is true. But there have been too many cases historically where cries of 'Up with X' were followed by 'Down with Y,' and it's hard not to read that into 'up with trans' too. That's what I wanted to contradict -- and 'Same respect for everybody' just isn't as snappy.

(I don't think it's quite the same with 'X lives matter,' it hasn't historically been used to imply that non-X lives don't -- so 'all lives matter' clearly has no other purpose than to sabotage 'black lives matter').

It's complicated...

This is the point of it, though. "Up" instead of "Down". And actually the opposite situation. The original thing said "Down with cis", so I made it "Up with trans" to go a positive way instead.  And it still remains that not everyone needs the "up". Just like people don't need the "down".  Much like the "all lives matter", "up with everyone" takes away from the focus, which is to give more to trans people, not to take away from cis people, and not to count everyone as already equal and needing more.

Yes, I understood that, and I accept your point that cis people don't really need the up. (I even read about two pages of tumblr posts yesterday, before giving up on humanity again). But they don't need a down either, do they?

Maybe I'm sensitive, but I wish we could stop giving plusses or minuses to specific goups and just treat everybody equally well without dividing them up. But I also know that with the current state of affairs, that is a utopian wish -- non-whites, non-males, and non-heteronormatives will need positive special treatment for a long time to come.

That's exactly the point!
I don't want "down" for ANYONE!
This is why I got upset. I want positivity! I don't want "down with cis". It's gross, and it goes against what I'm fighting for, which is equality for ALL gender identities.
"Up with trans" is my alternative to it, not a companion to it. It's to replace it entirely.

We violently agree, then -- each of us just read something else into the other's slogan. I'm not going to use my version outside this thread anyway, so that should solve the problem :)

Cool?
