I also don't like the English name myself, it sounds like virus instead of a drink.
Technically, that was the original intent of Beerus' name - to be a pun on virus (German pronunciation). Toriyama did not name Beerus, so when he saw the character's name, he thought it was a pun on "beer" so he named Whis after whiskey. However, Beerus still sounds like "beer," and Whis also sort of works as a pun on the Latin pronunciation of "virus" apparently, so thankfully it works out no matter how ya look at it.

I only think that Toriyama is a clever guy... Other than that who cares what the dubs do or don't... I don't care if the English dub changed the pronunciation of most villains and attacks or even the SSJ transformations, or that it has been redubbed like 6 times.
We only had two dubs the original 90s who never changed the voices and the DBZ Kai one who tried to resemble the English one, the public hate it to a point nobody watched it, everybody was extremely vocal about how much they hated the new voices... They fire the directives in charge of distribution, no joke.
In the new movies we had the original cast again. What I mean to say is that people here love the original dub, if not ask any Spanish speaking person... The fact with Bills/Beerus is that most people like the Spanish name more than the other, the dubbing team considered both and decided that Bills worked better in our language... If you want to stick to the original then why don't you complain of Goku's old lady's voice in Japanese.

I was just telling ya something interesting about the name 'cause it was relevant and I thought it was cool. Not sure why you felt the need to tell me all that, but that's interesting about the Spanish dub of Kai!

Sorry if I made it sound like I was complaining, I through you were saying it was wrong that the dub decided to call him Bills. .. At least you did find interesting the fact about DBZ Kai. I guess you could compare it to what happened with One Piece in US years ago.
If you want an interesting fact, the last DB movie was featured as any blockbuster movie in all theatres in Latin America, before USA and even manage to made it too the most important movie in 2 or 3 countries. It's very likely we will get DBS before USA.

Most likely. Latin America (and France to an extent) was in love with Dragon Ball as a whole before it ever officially showed up in the US, as I remember, and I think it's still more popular there. The movies had limited showings in the US, but they were both far more successful than they must have anticipated - especially Resurrection/Revival of F, which actually had far more showings in more places and still sold out everywhere. Probably nothing compared to how well the movies did in Latin America, haha.
But yeah, it's not a problem. Misunderstandings happen. :3 Oh, and about the One Piece dub... when Funimation took over, most people were fine with it, and anyone who had issue with it was mostly upset about the voice cast change and not anything else (the 4Kids cast wasn't bad at all, but their butchering of the show via extreme censorship and tonal shift was heavily disliked).

LOL, you beat me to him :) He was next on my list of models. Though I think his muzzle might be pointing a bit to low. I do love this otherwise =^.^= Keep up the good work!
Hehe, my friends thought I was insane when I told them his name was Bills. Especially when the English Sub/Dubs came out.
