Ok, this review was a long time coming, so bare with me here. It's a little bit off the Holliday season, but it's still in our theaters, so it should be fine to review

I got to see this movie a couple weeks back in October, and from what I watched, I certainly enjoyed it, even so enough to buy the first movie since I never got around to watching it back in 2012. so keep in mind as I do this review, I may not take the first movie into consideration when doing this review.

Story: So a couple of years have passed since Mavis and Jonathan have been together and they married and had a kid named Dennis. Dracula thinks he is a vampire and tries to help persuade Dennis into getting his fangs since he is a late fanger and you have until the age of 5 to get your fangs, and he must do this in order to prevent Mavis from moving her new family to when John grew up back in California. Basically the story flips between the two adventures of the Drac pack and his daughter with John in California and for the most part never loses it's steam for me for their is a bit of heart and character building for Drac when he realizes that he can't force his grandson to become a vampire when he may indeed turn out not to be.

Characters: Now, for those who have watched the first movie, I will skip over the the main characters and bring up the new ones. Dennis (Asher Blinkoff) is the son to Mavis and Johnathen. His Vampa (Vampire Grandpa, come on, it's obvious) Drac calls him by his vampire name Dennisavitch. He is a sweet young boy who want's nothing more then to be close to his family even if it meant getting him to try and release his hidden fangs. Vlad (Mel Brooks director of Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein (very fitting) and the Producers) is the father of Count Dracula and doesn't appear till the end of the film where he attends Dennis' early 5th birthday and becomes sort of a last ditch effort to get Dennis' fangs to spring out. These are really the only two new important characters to the film that you really need to know about other then Blobby who accompanies the Drac Pack, the mom and dad to Johnathen and Winnie who has a great friendship with Dennis and has a more active roll when it comes to Dennis' thoughts on what he must do, but other then that, Dennis and Vlad are great editions to the series and would be great to see them in the upcoming 3rd movie.

Animation: Just like with the previous movie, the animation really has that zany, face paced, whimsical style that makes it all the more cartoonier and really emphasizes the Genndy Tartakovsky edge, but very much resembles Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs but with more refined character designs that don't lack in their shapes and all. The enviornments are nicely lit and dark when then need to be, and my one favorite sequence is during the wedding reception, Drac dances with mavis on the ceiling with the chandelear turned upsidedown with some very pretty lighting and sparkle effects. Believe it or not, it was originally a scene for the first movie that was supposed to actually tell the story of how Drac and his wife met, but was cut out along with the pregnant bat scene as well. overall, its pretty good animation

Music: The score was conducted by the ever impressive Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo) who once again is able to set a great atmosphere for not only movies with a lot of zaniness or mechanical boops and beeps to them (Lego Movie, Cloudy) but can really give you a heart warming feel like the scene of Mavis and Jonathans wedding.

If I had to give this movie a score without the first movie in mind, I would give it a 7 out of 10. It isn't the best film from Sony Pictures animation (Cloudy in my opinion) but it certainly will keep people entertained during the Halloween season and even not during the season.
