For a few years, I had a bad habit of Photoshopping pictures from Google Images to use as my backgrounds. Since then, I've forced myself to drawing backgrounds not only to avoid making the character look like a sticker on a photograph, but also so I could have the character interact more with their environment and make appropriate changes in lighting and shading.
