I'm not I just never realized it before, keep in mind I grew up with Fleetway Sonic The Comic series and not Archie, even then I never really followed the comics but instead I'm into the games "and TV shows to some extent" so to me Julie-su is as canon as just about any fan character >_>

ho sorry, No. What I meant was in term of "storytelling" and "characters". She, the character, worked well. She had an interesting personality to go, as an equal, with Knuckles in the stories. Not simply the female knuckles, not simply the girlfriend, both characters were nice together.

Sorry to hear, I for myself think the comics are more interesting now with them focusing more on the characters we're familiar with from the games, plus Flinn is just a good writer, it's a shame he didn't make it as a writer for the games.
