When I commissioned this I thought to myself that I wanted something meaningful, something that would send a message. Hearing bad things from letters is not nice, from a break-up to a death. Do it in person, because they are living creatures, and all living creatures need comfort and hugs, from humans to your pets, and everything in between.
This picture here is Duke receiving a letter from his dad from a war, opening it like an excited cub only to get some very bad news from his father instead, sitting in a sad shock after reading it.
As a former service member and a father, I just wanted to let you know that you and pandapaco have created an image that perfectly captured the greatest fear in my heart every time I went overseas. The emotional purity of this image is astounding regardless that the emotions are shock, heartbreak, loss, and grief.
You found quite a meaningful message and it has come across to your audience powerfully.

---Edit--- I misread your discription as he received a letter with bad news ABOUT his father, not FROM his father. Doesn't really matter thiugh because even if I'm not interpreting the image exactly as you intend, the emotional message I took from it was still the same. Again, wonderful job guys.
