Getting out all of my seasonally appropriate stuff today before October actually starts. If you haven't seen the Teen Slasher music video for Common Shriner's song "Social Mediasochist" you really owe it to yourself to do so, especially if you're a big fan of horror much like myself. I can honestly say this is the only time a music video has made me so happy that I had to do fanart of it. Even the amazing animation for Mystery Skulls' "Ghost" didn't captivate me this much and don't get me wrong, I think the music video of Ghost is fantastic! It's one of the best things I've seen in terms of music videos, but even still it didn't quite get me like this did.
Perhaps it was because I've never cared for Scooby Doo, so something paying homage to it wasn't totally my thing (even if it's leaps and bounds better then the original source material) maybe it was because the video made me think so much of my own web comic, High School Death Party, were it to be based on established movie characters, maybe it was because of how much the makers of this knew horror and showed an obvious love for it. To me, this felt like the "Wreck-It Ralph" of the horror genre.
All of these are true, but truthfully I think the most contributing factor was that the lyrics of this song really summed my current mood when I heard it and came to me at a time when I really needed to hear it, in addition to be extremely funny and well it was getting close to October so I figured I'd jump on it... by the time I saw Ghost last year it was already Halloween and I had not time to draw anything for it... so sorry, the cards just weren't in your favor, Mystery Skulls XD
If you haven't seen the video, check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy9uaWqUNa8&index=3... it's probably the best thing to come out of 2015 for me... but as the years roll on and less and less talent is swilled out, I find that to be an easier and easier accomplishment XD
