Mara and Simona were given a mission to end the production of Brain Pods. Brain pods had been considered unethical and made illegal. One deranged man refused to stop creating them since they were so easy to control. he used the pods as an army attacking other solar systems with them. Once they located the production facility, Mara and Simona went for a full frontal assault.

The author of the "Sam & Max" lunacy had fun with "Star Wars" as he did 4 or 5 takes on the films. In one Sam & Max are getting ready to storm the Death Star. Two brain pods are servicing and refueling the fighter planes. At the time I felt that the rebels are using excised brains (in pink fluid) rather than AI units to run the bots, just to not have computer techs build and AI -install bot -brains..
Sam and Max can also be read as Sadism -Masochism as Sam belts Max around 6 ways from Sunday. Here Max has to take on R2D2's role and manages to get his scalp set on fire from an enemy shot. Sam calls him a nuisance for complaining about his injury.
