With blueprints for the ancient COM-2D Commando having been available to them since before touching down to Mobius, the lost JumpShip, its three DropShip cargo, and its crew lacked the parts to actually build any of its more technological components. One such component was the precious 150-rated fusion engine that we at our Blessed Order take for granted, as well as standard plate armor and military BattleMech structure. Now forced to improvize with on-world materials and cobbled together manufacturing facilities, the survivors on-world were able to build a machine that, on paper, resembles our IndustrialMechs in the Inner Sphere, but were able to strap enough guns and armor on it to become a fearsome opponent for its enemies of the time.
The prototype, called the Bigfoot Zero (we assume it is a reference to something, but our historians haven't figured it out yet), mounts a pair each of Short Range Missile two-packs, medium lasers, and machine guns, enough to deal with any threat it comes across. The decision to use a cheap commercial armor for the construction was made because of the type of opposition expected, as their enemies do not have adequate vehicular support or even 'Mechs of their own.

Honestly, a .50 BMG is overkill for swatbots or Mobians.   This is walking carnage <3.

Looks like I could do some serious damage if I was in control of it. >:D

Most people don't consider how valuable it is to have weapons mounted at cockpit (or higher) range. Love how you can peek over a small building and still use your lasers.

I once made a mech pilot who lived on a deep periphery world with nothing but some land vehicles and a lone agri-mech that had a chainsaw and grapple/cargo crane hook attachment on it. He had a very nice piloting skill but virtually zero gunnery skill. Was an awesome RP character. >_<

The SRM-2 packs are high enough that you can fire them behind cover effectively, too. You can nearly go hull-down with it.
