'Obstacle Course'
Maurice the cat, along with his friends Ben the fox, Pete the bear and Gregory the squirrel were all playing in a playground near a woodland area. Then all of a sudden, Timothy a young raccoon and his friend Friendly; another fox, arrived at the playground. Maurice instantly beamed at the two friends and rushed over to hug them.
'Hi Friendly, Timothy, it's been a while since we saw each other.', exclaimed Maurice.
'It's great seeing you guys too.', added Friendly.
'It's nice seeing you again too.', added Timothy.
After everyone said their hellos to one another, they all had a drink at the local drinking fountain, where an idea came into Maurice's head.
'Hey guys, how about we run an obstacle course around this playground?', asked Maurice.
'That sounds interesting? But what would we be doing in it? I mean what do we do about obstacles?', asked Gregory.
'How about we race to the swings? When we get there we have to use one of them and swing on it 3 times before we continue?', suggested Ben.
'Yeah, then we can race to the roundabout and go around on that 3 times before carrying on?', added Pete.
'And the winners will be decided by whom gets to climb the slide, from the inside up'., chuckled Maurice.
'Sure sounds like fun. What do you say Timothy, want to give it a try'?, asked Friendly.
Timothy hesitated for a bit, but seeing the smiling faces on the others then nodded in agreement. 'OK, but if I need help. You guys will help me right?', he asked.
'Of course we will.', replied Friendly.
'Yeah that's what friends do after all.', added Maurice with a smile, which brought another smile to Timothy's face.
The boys then went over to a starting line that Ben and Pete made in the sand. They all took their positions beside it.
"OK fellas, after the count of three we'll race. Friendly would you do the honours please?', asked Maurice.
'Sure I will. Ok, one, two, three, GO!', cried Friendly and the boys began to race.
Ben and Pete were in front, followed by Gregory and Maurice and finally Friendly and Timothy bringing up the rear. Ben and Pete reached the swings first and after three swings they leapt off of them. Doing this however had slowed them down a bit, so Gregory and Maurice caught up and grabbed the swings as Ben and Pete leapt off off them.  The two of them began swinging and after three times, they jumped off. Soon after they did that Friendly and Timothy arrived at the swings. Timothy tried to get a bit of momentum but couldn't get enough speed in the short amount of time that he had. He saw that Ben and Pete had all ready reached the roundabout and began to get worried.
'Oh Friendly, I don't think I can win. I'm too slow'., the little raccoon said sadly.
'Hey, it's not about winning. It's about taking part, finishing the race and having fun.', replied Friendly, after finishing his three swings.
Timothy smiled and nodded, however Friendly helped Timothy out by pushing him on the swings. After three pushes, he grabbed onto the chains and gently pulled the swing to a stop and helped Timothy off the swing.
'Thank you Friendly.', smiled Timothy.
'You're welcome.', replied Friendly, as he patted Timothy on the butt to hear the crinkling off the pull ups he wore underneath his shorts.
The two then raced towards the roundabout, where Gregory and Maurice had finished riding on it 3 times each, before racing towards the slide to catch up with Ben and Pete.
'You get on first and I'll push you.', said Friendly.
Timothy got onto the roundabout and Timothy pushed on it, so that he would spin 3 times, before pulling the roundabout to a stop.
'OK, it's your turn now Timothy, but take your time. The roundabout doesn't need to go fast.', Friendly said, jumping onto it.
'OK.', replied Timothy. He pushed on the roundabout and Friendly spun round once. Timothy managed to push it two more times, but felt a bit tired after doing so. But Friendly was very happy with Timothy's effort as he jumped off the roundabout and patted him on the butt again, making him giggle.
The two then ran over to the slide and they noticed that the others were having a bit of trouble getting up the slide from the inside. Pete tried going inside with Ben pressing himself against his friends bottom, but he kept slipping and Ben wound up landing on top of him. Then Gregory tried with Maurice pushing from the rear, but Maurice wound up slipping and landing on top of Gregory. None of the boys were hurt and just laughed.
'Looks like we're a bit stuck.', said Maurice.
'Not if we help each other up and if everyone helps?', suggested Friendly.
'Great idea.', smiled Gregory.
'Can I go first with Timothy though?'. asked Friendly.
'Sure. That sounds like a good idea.', added Maurice.
So with that Friendly started climbing up the inside of the slide, with Timothy right on his tail. It was easy for Friendly at first, but then his left paw slipped and he almost would have slid down if Timothy didn't stop him. He pressed himself onto Friendly's rear but he too began to slip. Then Maurice and Gregory came to their aid. Maurice stopped Timothy from slipping and he was being pushed from behind by Gregory and when he began to slip Ben came up behind him and Pete then brought up the rear. The six of them had lost a bit of grip with their paws a couple of times, but they helped each other by pulling and pushing each other to steady them again.
'Hey I can see the other side. We're nearly there.', cried Friendly.
'OK then, Timothy and I will push you then Friendly. Gregory pushes me, Ben pushes Gregory and well..Hehe, Pete would have to push all of us.', chuckled Maurice. Though Pete gave the thumbs up as he didn't mind.
'Wait..Erm can I be in front of Friendly and you push him if he pushes me?', asked Timothy.
'Sure you can.', smiled Maurice.
Timothy then slid into position being in front of Friendly, as he put his paws on the seat of Timothy's shorts, while the others all prepared themselves for one big push.
'OK fellas, one, two, three PUSH!,' cried Maurice.
'Heave ho!', the boys cried.
With a bit of effort and some shoving from Friendly, Timothy reached the top of the slide and helped pull Friendly up with him. Next Maurice thought he was going to make it, after Gregory started shoving on his butt. But Maurice slipped and he, Gregory, Ben and Pete all slid down and landed on a heap at the bottom. Apart from a little bit of bruising, the boys were OK and once again laughed at their silliness. Friendly climbed down the small ladder leading to the top of the slide and helped Timothy down, they then checked on the others.
'You guys OK?', asked Friendly.
'Yeah we're OK.', replied Ben.
'We knew that one of us had to slip up.', Pete said, winking at Maurice, making the cat reply with a modest giggle.
'I'm glad you guys are OK though.', said Timothy.
'Well it seems you two won the race'., said Gregory.
Timothy gasped, as he realised that he was right.
'Oh yeah, we did win. HOORAY!', he cried as he lifted up Friendly's paw too, to show that the two of them had won.
'That race sure made us thirsty though?', added Maurice.
'We better get another drink then.', smiled Friendly.
So the boys headed back towards the water fountain and had another drink, as well as a toast using paper cups to Friendly and Timothy; the winners of the playground obstacle course.
