Similar thing happened with my mother. Made lots of special hand crafted custom ordered amulets with semi-precious stones. Problem was that accepting perpetual demand instead of making them via her own inspiration and desire quite literally required them to be made on a manufacturing line.
She didn't want to be selling a bajillion bland designs that were all the same, she wanted them to be made unique and special, each a product of inspiration and desire to make it, not some order sheet.
