My otter character, Alex, is about to leave for her first day of work at a local chocolate/sweets shop (thinking of calling it "Nothin' But Truffle"). She likes to take pictures of big events like this so she can remember them for later, so she's get her phone precariously balanced on a nearby shelf to capture the moment.

I did this up as a random sketch while I was relaxing for the night, not really meaning to take it anywhere. Then I decided to finally buy a light box, and told myself this would be the drawing I used to test it out. Funny story, but I actually bought myself a light box the very same day that Toby saw one posted on Meh (a daily sale site) and bought it for me as a surprise gift. He was about to leave for work when the mail deliverer was outside with a package for me, and I said "Oh hey, that must be my light box." Toby turns around like "What the hell how did you know what was in that?!" And that's when it came to light that we'd both bought one, ha ha. Even funnier to me, it turns out the one on Meh was the very same box I ordered myself! Excellent choice of box, husband~

I'll color this eventually in my spare time, so look forward to seeing her in color one day!

Aw, that's a really cute little story. And hey, now you have a back-up just in case!

This is a really cute little picture, too. I really like how happy Alex looks, and I just love the name of her new workplace. I'd love to work at a place like that, myself! Her earrings and those little freckles on her cheeks are just too adorable, too.

Nah, I ended up just returning the one I bought. I have to wait for it to arrive before I can send it back though.

Glad you like her design! I particularly enjoy drawing this character, her attitude is really fun to depict, and her design is simple, but recognizable (I hope!)

Very lovely picture. If you don't have any objections, and I have the spare time/interest, would you object to my downloading this and coloring it for you for free? I'd like to think of this as a pretty good example picture of some potentially difficult complex shading I'd want to practice.

As of this post, most of the basic colors are put down, though I don't want to miscolor your character. I've got most of the basic shading done and the complex shading groundwork laid down, so feel free to critique at this point, but I may yet do something about the cabinets, maybe give my hand/mouse/paw a try at adding in tree/growth lines.
Anyway, feel free to let me know main colors when you're free.
