He wants it all.

This is a picture I drew for the Eurofurence Artshow August 19 - 23 in Berlin. It will be available as a unique framed print.

Sooo, the story behind this picture is actually quite peculiar. It's the last picture I've worked on for the Eurofurence artshow and I was struggling to find a good idea at first, cause it felt like I had "shot my load" with the others (some of them are yet to be uploaded).

Then I remembered seeing a picture of an anthro gangster boss, wearing a similiar attire as this rhino, though he had some golden chains and rings as well. However, I could not find it again. I don't remember the artist, I don't remember the species (I think it was also a rhino, but again, I'm not sure) and I was searching various furry websites without any luck.

So I just kind of went ahead and made this character up as I went along. And to be honest: I'm really happy with this design. I've never drawn a rhinocerus before, so this was pretty cool. And I got to play around with some colors and interesting effects like the cigar smoke. I think this picture turned out nicely, despite its rough start.

Such a portrait of power and menace. Is that tie from a real zebra?

Hah, no. ;3 I think that would be a little too dark. :P

I agree, his expression conveys those emotions perfectly.

I'm getting a Saint's Row vibe from the purple suit and gold gun.

Reminds me of the Elephantmen comics.

One of the best pieces of art I've seen anywhere. This is so professional, it belongs in a gallery. You nailed the menacing, sinister expression, and your shading and realistic depiction of light and shadow are the best I've seen so far. Great work on the "bunching" on the fabric, it makes his suit realistic. I just noticed the gold Desert Eagle in his right hand. He's one bad ass Mafia Don.

Thank you very much for the kind words, that really means a lot to me! Sadly, when I presented this as a framed print at the Eurofurence art show two years ago, this was the only piece that didn't get sold. However, it now has found a place on the wall of my boyfriends home, so there's a happy ending. :3

You're very welcome, it was my pleasure. I know what I like in art. I'm sad for you that it was the only unsold submission, but I'm very happy this piece found a loving home. I hope your boyfriend appreciates it's quality and detail as much as I do.:) Does "Avarice" mean anything?

Oh he definitely appreciates it! :D And I just chose "Avarice" because it's a fitting title, in part inspired by a song of the same name of the band Disturbed. :3

I'm glad he loves it so much. It is a fitting title, I just listened to the song and keeping with the Disturbed theme, your character could also represent the cigar-smoking "corporate greed" giant from the video for "Land of Confusion.
