after A Young Hare by Albrecht Durer, 1502
Portraits of live animals have a certain resemblance to still lifes (portraits of fruit). Fruits and animals are something humans eat, and there are times when humans enjoy personifying that which they are accustomed to consuming.
This is taken to its logical conclusion in the world of the furry, where every animal is personified and consumes one another in a sort of ‘life ouroboros’.
