Here, we see the kitsune locked in a pitched battle with a very bloodthirsty demon fox. The sword in her left hand is special: the blade is consecrated to disperse magical auras, the kind that spirits and demons in Nirata's world are made from. Drawing this blade actually causes creatures in proximity to the sword pain, including Nirata, so she usually keeps it sheathed to pacify its magic, drawing the blade only for the killing blow or for a quick iaido-style strike. In addition, since it disrupts magic, it also prevents Nirata from using her own spells and illusions, a real detriment in a fight to the death!
However, in desperate situations, she does draw the sword fully and use it in a dual-wield fashion, but only when she feels that the fight needs to be ended quickly, or that the enemy can employ powerful magic on the battlefield. Here is one of those times, and it doesn't look like she has the upper hand...
