I think it's a good representation to have Spike and Rarity be the two. They can bring in others for other stories, so there's no real need. That's largely how they approach it, and I'll all for it. It fits their characters, but, for everyone else I like how they can be just as easily asexual as they can be pansexual; I love them treating each gender exactly the same. That in itself fills an important role.
