I'd say to focus on making the eyes look more balanced in appearance, either of equal size if looking at the face straight on or of the farther eye looking a little smaller if the face is turned. It will also help if you actually make them slightly cross-eyed so it looks like he's focusing on something instead of staring off into space. Even so, your choice of colors is vibrant, and the mane's texture is nicely done. I do like how you've used the colored pencil to highlight the brow, cheeks, nose, and forehead. :)
