Do you not know the difference between 'sex' and 'gender'. I am assuming skaterblog meant 'sex' when they said 'gender' otherwise they're being very offensive implying that there are only 2 genders. But there are only 2 sexes. You only get XX or XY, not YY or XZ.

Well, to put things simply, gender refers to social role and sex refers to biological traits? Then, even with humans there still things happen, whether considering anatomy (intersex) or chromosome set (e.g., XYY). If we involve other species, hermaphroditism may be a feature (nothing closer to us than worms comes into my mind, though), or other chromosomes mechanics, while you mention it (ZW in birds). And going further to fantastic beings, you may imagine as many sexes as you can as easy (or difficult) as being a sexless creature that poops rainbows. Or, returning to the furry topic, I am no more surprised to meet a being covered in hmm... sexual traits of all types all over its body. Something like that.

And if you're gooing to go all into the interspecies stuff, you can be politically correct and list EVERY comination, and give them all a unique name, or you ould just do Male/Female/Herm based on which genetalia you have.
