I couldn't sleep again, insomnia still taking its toll on me from the months previous. I was the only one of my group who is still suffering from it due to previous experimentation on us many years before. Then again, I am one of the only survivors from the DNA transmutation testing all those years ago...One of a select few that had managed to go on and live long enough to begin having a "normal" life. As I sit up in the bed, several bones in my body make a silent 'pop' sound, and the wolfen ears atop my head twitch slightly in anticipation. I would have normally complained about my room a bit chilly if it wasn't for the heat vents I had installed into the house recently, as well as the ten percent denser muscle mass. It was chilly in my room nonetheless, so I needed to warm myself up before I went back to bed again, and I didn't have my partner to help me with that.

I got out from underneath what covers I had on my bed and strode over to the nearby bathroom, and to the sink. Luckily this house still had the hot water available, so I had let the sink fill up with warm water, and soaked my face in it, my senses waking up and heat flowing through my body. As the water trickles down my face, I lift it up to take another glance at myself in the mirror. Every time I look at my own reflection, I have to remind myself that it really is me and not some illusion, and definitely not something from the storybooks. My tanned skin, sapphire-like eyes, and finely-built body are not something that makes me unique, technically, but rather it makes me who I am as a normal individual. What made me physically different from the other people here were other things like my ears, hair, and even my tail. I honestly don't care much about how other people think I look, or how different I am compared to them. I had to go through the pain of getting my DNA spliced, fused with the DNA of other animals, as well as enhanced genes, and then repositioned in such a manner that it feels natural. It was strange for me at first, but as time went along it became natural to me, and I became used to it.

I became someone of a different nature from the others who were tested on, as well as from the normal people on this planet, let alone in Kress City, the place where I have been living for well over seven years, and have been settling down quite steadily in that amount of time. Although, I have always had a feeling that violence was going to find its way back into my life, and change everything forever. My life, and the life of others would never be the same again...
