A mawshot is a pic of a character's face ,usually spot on, with the mouth open, the eyes staring. Saliva strings oft in the mouth, teeth evident, the back of the throat visible, and the whole poised to devour you ! Even Bugs Bunny looks like a carnivorous maniac in this pose. Little birds picking at a crocodile's teeth get a good view of mawshot.
It seems about to attack, to lunge out of the picture, and engulf you. I have a phobia of such - things.

Some species' faces are not designed to smile. If they try such, it looks -awry .
One alien character was asked to smile for the news camera. Tho he said his people do not smile, he tried. BUT considering that he came to offer help and to give help, and was handcuffed and beaten (assumed to be an alien invader), he had a good mind to let the Meeps enslave the earth and butcher any who did not totally toe the line.
As it was, his smile looked like a leer.

The alien's name was Dalgoda, and I base my prior comment on 2 panels in a blurb in AMAZING HEROES . The Wikipedia let me down and so I have no idea of how the story progressed, (earthlings and Dalgoda vs. the Mimps). Access to Forbidden Planet was not easy. I do my comic shopping by mail these days. Most stores do not seem to carry comics anymore, and most of my SONICs were by subscription.
