The whole story was better off not having a 'cold war' with nukes. That's just lazy writing. The first game's ending was more satisfying even though it left alot of loose ends. It seems like the creator got bored with it and wanted to hammer the nail in the franchise coffin to avoid sequelitis. Can't blame him. All good things gotta come to an end but I hope we do get that custom level creator. I'd love to make my own story with it as would many others.
