Dusk and Midnight are in the service of the Shadow, an energy being that cares and tries to uphold the laws of nature and brought Dusk and Midnight to assist.

Dusk formerly known as Zeke has had his Aura the same as the Shadows, a Red colour aura, which used to be purple until Ajax forced it to be changed when Zeke was born. This change affected Zeke and with training he was able to suppress the energy within himself. After many years Zeke insisting he take on a mission to investigate energy spikes from a cave, after convincing Gale to let him go he went to the cave where a creature called the Shadow lived, sensing his energy inside Zeke he made it come to the surface and took control making Zeke's mind cloudy and forget about his past. Zeke now Dusk has no memory of his past and works for his master the Shadow in helping uphold the law of Nature, helping make everything as it should be.

Midnight was formerly known as Dan, Dan has time again broken the laws of nature by dying and comic back a large number of times, as well as beating the odds and remaining himself even after losing himself completely. The Shadow angered by his misuse wanted Dan to finally move on, after trying a handful of times finally had Dusk bring him in. Dan not wanting to hurt his son gave in was made to move on and start the circle of life again. In an attempt to stop Dan from coming back the Shadow changed Dan's aura from Blue to Red just like Dusk's. The new Midnight now the baby brother of Dusk is looked after and trained by Dusk.

It is unsure if these two could come back to their original selves.
