It's occurred to me that, despite my love for Cave Story, and more specifically Mimigas, I have no Cave Story fan characters.

Think about that for a moment. I have all sorts of characters. I have fan characters related to fictions created by my friends, and yet I don't have anything relating to Cave Story.

Well, that's besides the point. Both of these pictures were inspired by a very cool remix of Moonsong known as "Mimiga Vibe." If you've downloaded the Cave Story Remix Project, you've probably heard it. As I was drawing these pictures, I fleshed out the characters in them a little. Their designs could use work, but background-wise, I'm pretty set.

The first picture is of a mimiga girl preparing to play her flute. She's very laid-back, and calling her simple-minded wouldn't be such a stretch. She spends a lot of her time in Grasstown, because it's very peaceful there. Her love of music is undying.

This picture has some flaws. If you'll notice, the platform she's on didn't come out straight and doesn't really look like the ones in the game, I drew ropes instead of vines or whatever, and in general the picture looks less like "girl with flute" and more like "construction worker with lunch."

The second picture was done much quicker than the first, and yet I think it came out better. Unlike the first one, this one is of a boy. Due to a genetic defect, most of his fur is unusually short, and his immune system is weak. Because of these factors, he has to constantly dress in thick, warm clothing, and he has developed a certain shyness from it. However, hiding behind the scarf and glasses lies a mind full of curiosity. Unaware of the flaws of the world below, he wants to know... what lies beyond his home? Perhaps the answer lies in the remains of human technology...

In this picture he has just stumbled upon a computer that still has power supplied to it. Strange...

Given that he grew up on the island.... I wonder... does he know what a password, or even a computer, is?
