Blacktail looked over hirself in the mirror. Everything looked about right, the colours of the coat fit, shi had a nice, broad belt, shi even got one of those novelty beards under hir chin, but something didn't seem right.
"Here, stuff this under your belt!" Midsnow smiled, tossing one of their many pillows at hir mate. Blacktail grinned and nodded, shoving the cushion in, giving hirself a proper 'bowl full of jelly.'
Back when shi was a cub in the Fox'taur village, hir father, Tamas, would dress up as Father Christmas and go to the snowy village square to give out gifts to the pups their parents supplied him with. Blacktail always loved the feeling of excitement and happiness each child had seeing him, despite it clearly being the village blacksmith (the smell of worked iron and soot alone certainly gave him away). It didn't matter much to the children, though, wrapped up in the spirit of things.
On Chakona, of course, there wasn't a set 'Christmas,' but the end of the year festivities of Last Day often held the same sort of feeling. As such, the first Last Day of the Cat's Eye Pub, Blacktail decided to keep hir father's work alive and told all the parents that visited the pub that "Santa will be coming 'round in the early evening to give out gifts to the good children."
Several big, hemp sacks that once held peat moss for the pub's landscaping now contained wrapped presents given to the pub to distribute to the children, as well as one full of little packages of baked Chocolate Biscuits to give out. Blacktail nodded approvingly as shi purred happily. Things were going just as planned.
Blacktail's "Elf" grinned at the jolly looking tiger. "Does Santa have a gift for little ol' me?" Midsnow giggled, wiggling hir handpaws in the pointed booties they were clad in. Of course, Father Christmas had plenty of sugar to give the good little chakat as they kissed.
They paused as they heard the sound of bells rattling with each step of the interloper walking into the room. "Say, is this thing supposed to be this bright?" Gildedtongue asked, crossing hir eyes at the L.E.D. festooned knob tied onto hir nose. "And, if you guys didn't know I was going to be on planet before, how'd you already have a belled harness?"
Midsnow and Blacktail shot each other a glance, grinning as wide as their muzzles allowed before giving each other one final kiss. 'Father Christmas' shouldered on hir first sack before making hir way to the pub, the sound of the cubs playing and screaming rang up the stairs.
