there was an old canon before the 80s camp pines one, a more cyberpunky one that did not go forward, but Luna existed in there, and had a different backstory where she was blinded as a child. Now as a nod to that she still have a scar on her face, but instead of being blind, she is mute from birth as a side-effect of her particular type of lycantropism
