This is Parfait when she was 8 :) This is also before she got her nickname "Parfait" and she was going by her actual name: Faye.
Faye used to be very tame and well-mannered as a wee lass. Her parents had recently made their trip to Britain for business; leaving her alone with her older brother, and she had recently had her annual knee surgery so her walking pattern is still a little wonky.
The operations cause her to avoid any physical exercise which caused her to spend most of her single-digit years as a chubby little beaver. This, unfortunately, made her very unattractive to the boys she would get hard crushes on. The boys she always wanted to date were several years older -- mostly around 10 or 11 -- and every time she would even think about showing her feelings to them, she would learn that they were already taken.
Sad Faye is sad. This used to happen to her all the time.

The overwhelming emotions present throughout this piece, accompanied by the somber atmosphere and the somewhat bittersweet background story... well, it breaks my heart. :'( BREAKS THIS SHEP-COON'S HEART RIGHT IN TWO. </3 Seriously... you guys really provoke stunning emotions through just a torn letter and a tear-faced beaver-girl - no further words could adhere to such a travesty as a youth's biggest crush betraying her in such an inconsiderate manner... enough to cause her to shatter that which she worked so hard on (seriously - look at the effort in her writing!) to convey her own unfettered love through? Oh jeez... she desperately needs a hug like a.s.a.p. And some cookies. Hot tea, perhaps. Mostly hugs and cuddles though. "Hell hath no fury like a womanbeaver-cub scorned." Poor kid. People can be so shallow sometimes, and that seems to be equally true whether they're judging you for being chubby and maybe a little awkward, or lusting after you because you're thin and popular. Seeing this makes me feel kind of bad for her, since she seems to get it both ways and it kind of makes me wonder if there's anyone who genuinely likes Parfait for who she is. I do hope so.

I feel a bit bad faving this (poor Parfait; sorry feel for chars easily XD)... but it is superbly drawn and coloured (the lighting especially) so faved it is! The creases on the pillow are great.
