An idea I’ve been playing around with, I got the idea from something I saw a long time ago that someone did but I forget who they were. The idea is an alternate universe where Rarity is the AJ of the group and vice versa.

In this universe Rarity is a coal miner who routinely excavates only the finest minerals in all Equestria. I imagine her being kinda brash and direct in her mannerisms, but a very charming and suave person around others. She loves what she does because she damn well does it the best. She also loves the occasional tussle with a few Diamond Dogs.

AJ on the other hand is much less rowdy and of a more delicate nature. She’s very passionate about what she does and admires the beauty in seemingly simplistic things. She’s a brand designer, has a line of health care products, and produces a line of top quality cider that’s the best selling among sophisticants

I have yet to come up with names for them, only because I’m not sure if they need them? If you have any ideas for names feel free to share.

oh and that last image is a little shippy I guess because I’m garbage like that?

Edit: mroreoman came up with some neat names so from now on I'm going by "Ivory" and "Sparking Cider" for these two :V

I could see it. When the rainboom happens, AJ had already turned away from the window, never seeing it. She stays in Manehattan and gets a degree in business. She returns to Ponyville years later (of she visited from time to time) for the family reunion, and like Twilight, decides to stay to be closer to her family and new friends.

Rarity, instead of the rock breaking, the ground did, sending her into an old mine tunnel where she finds several veins of gem stone. She takes up an old, abandoned pick axe and begins mining away. She discovers, after mining several buckets worth, that she enjoys the hard work and earning her gems.

Love this concept. Works very well, while not messing with the history TOO much.

Would this version of AJ have stuck around with the oranges a few more years? Any thoughts on the push on Rarity?

Well, the thing is this isn't taking place in the universe we know, so a lot of people would be in different jobs and locations. In this universe both of them come from entirely different upbringings with different approaches to doing things their counterparts do. So like, the AJ we know loves working with apples and is a farmer with southern grit, this AJ loves apples but instead works with them as an art piece and she has a more delicate nature. Both of their families would also be different I imagine, including the Oranges, but I have yet to really delve into that. I realize now it's a little difficult to explain where exactly I'm coming from with this but I was hoping to go beyond simply swapping roles and instead each of them having more of the others nature, upbringing, and approach to things. Hope all this makes sense ^^;

Nah, it was either "slightly different" or "vastly different" - the latter definitely has more room to run around in!

I love what you did! taking an existing concept and change it (not so much just the exact amount) certainly comes with amazing results I hope see more of this in the future and definetely want to see the rest of the family members too.

Naming a character is one of the more difficult things to do, good luck with that :D
