Sam makes time for Erika. He has to, you always have to, if you're a Dad. Otherwise what's the point? She could hang around and waste time with anybody, but would they remember that she likes being carried? No. Would they remember what she was like when she was little(r)? Of course not! And would they be able to intuit her favorite flavor of ice cream? Pshaw. No, that's something for Dad to do. Because kids will forgive a lot of things if you just try.
