I think that metroids just work like a magnet... If they're close enough they can probably absorb the energy's prey.

but honestly think about it, the chozo considered these creatures the biggest threat ever, so what do they do? they build a one of a kind suit to combat them FOR A FUCKING HUMAN that can't even fight off its only means of attack..... think god it operates on megaman logic so she has some means of defense
