Every time I hear this song, it makes me cry. :( The real meaning behind this song is incredibly sad, as it was wartime (WW2), and many of our troops couldn't make it home for the holidays... Many never came home at all. :( This song is meant to be sung from the perspective of those soldiers. Many even had hoped for a repeat of that Christmas Miracle, some 30 years earlier- The day the guns fell silent in 1914.
