If I were in Abby's socks, I wouldn't say "She wanted to hurt our kits" as if dealing with a grandparent who believed in spankings when the parents don't. What she should have said, and would have also prompted Rick's outraged reaction would be if she said "She was murdering Kibo!"
I'm not saying that Rick is acting inappropriate to the situation as it actually happened, but that the way it is presented is as if he psychically understood that Abby's mother was killing the kit. Either that or he assumed the worst like a soap opera, however if Rick was only assuming the worst then he is a dangerously psychotic character, because on page five he invited Lyssa in the den without any pretense, then he heard “No!” and walked into the den to see Abby licking the kits wound and Lyssa just standing there non-threateningly. If these foxes are completely feral then such psychotic behavior can be expected, however, if they were completely feral the parents would not allow any other fox near the kits until they had reached a certain age.
To wind down my little rant, I would like you to consider changing the line “She wanted to hurt our kits." to "She was murdering Kibo!"

Wow! In some ways, your Lyssa is a lot like my Ophelia Fuchs (except that Ophelia wouldn't want to kill her grandkits for any reason). Of course, I know next to nothing about Lyssa except from this comic.
