sorry to hear about all that...I myself am a pc guy, and my current system I built from the ground up, so It is most definately beefy enough to play skyrim...I would love a laptop, but even if I got a laptop, I'd still be a desktop guy, because desktops are always going to just be more powerful than laptops. that and you just cant build a laptop like you can a desktop.
