Sylphs are beings of the wind, living high atop mountains. They can manipulate the air around them to help them fly long distances and to attack their prey. Many Sylphs see themselves as higher beings compared to other earth dwelling beings especial their rivals the Gnomes, the only other beings the seem to respect are the Undines. The two races have been known to work together in hunts and in tormenting other creatures.
Some beings sometimes mistaken Sylphs for angels, and the Sylphs take full advantage of this. Tricking beings into giving them treasures, building temples and even handing over mates.
