So this is Paw City. It's an American-ish city, liberal leaning but with the problems any city has. It's similar to the great New England City's, but with a more DC/Baltimore type climate. As a note, this world is vaguely like our own, but I'm not going to nail too much down.
Now I believe in the adage of 'show, don't tell', but I'm no good artist, so I'll have to show you in future stories. I don't want to info dump, but I do want to provide some basic information, so here is a quick rundown of the major neighborhoods of the city, which you can see labeled on the map:
"Old Town" is most notable for its large navy presence, historic shipyards, and preserved old town, complete with a repurposed fort with period actors.
The Warehouse district is an industrial, transportation, and criminal hub, complete with smugglers, underground fighting rings, and other such things.
The Art Deco toe is a monument to the old robber-barons and their accomplishments, as well as being a home to many museums, theaters and the like.
The Factory district is home to factories old and new, where the world’s oldest trade and cutting edge technology somehow exist side by side.
In the Old Money district, most of the buildings sit empty, either occupied only at special times of the year or turned into memorials to their more famous occupants.
Uptown is given to office-buildings, apartment buildings, courthouses, the statehouse, wall-street, and the like, and is no stranger to tourists and protests.
The University District is the educational and sports center of the city, where next-gen tech parks and breakthrough medical centers sit next to champion hosting stadiums.
The Foreign Quarter is filled with exotic furs and cultures, from far-east types to South American to even Little Italy. Each have their own areas, but they are all here.
The Park is large, well landscaped, and has a large homeless population.
The Hatchery is and always has been the home of the scalies, from their time as slave labor to the modern day.
The Gentrification district was built on top of the old slums by yuppies, hippies, hipsters, and is now the home of independent theaters, art galleries, and new-age guru's.
Lastly, there are the cliffs to either side of city. They are not important for now, except to note that they are in fact tall cliffs.
