Biography: Gillbeard is a kind hearted pirate captain of the heroic Gillmen pirate crew that go on adventures and fight evil pirates and take back the stolen treasure back to their original owners, and are also the ones the Skylanders met and once helped them on a quest to find the treasure, which turns out to be cursed, which their arch enemies, the Black Magic Drow pirates forced them into finding it only to protect their village in the Pirate Seas, because it was a source of Black Magic, and these Drow wanted to use it to take over Skylands. So the Skylanders helped them fight the Drow pirates and make sure they never retured to their village ever again.

Gillbeard is also an idol and a hero to Gurglefin and Jess's son Muddlefin LeGrand, who wanted to be like him when he grows up when he and his crew visited Plunder Island. But one tragic night, the Black Magic Drow pirates returned and attack Plunder Island, he sacrificed his life to save Muddlefin when he was trying to fight the pirates, and died, but the Drow retreated when the rest of the crew fought them off. At the funeral by the beachs of Plunder Island, they moaned over the loss of their captain, even Muddlefin, he now wears his hat to remember him, and when he grew up, he became the new captain to protect Pirate Seas just like his mother and Gillbeard.

Relationships:

Gill Grunt: Gill Grunt may not get along with the gillman pirate captain at first, due to the fact he hated pirates, but he noticed he wasn't like the evil ones in Skylands. He and the Skylanders once helped Gillbeard and his pirate crew fight the Drow Pirates that were forcing them to find the cursed treasure that'll give them much power.

Wash Buckler: Gillbeard is shown to be very kind to Wash Buckler, and he heard about him because he was an orphaned Mermasquid who grew up on one of the toughest pirate ships in all of Skylands and a Swap Force Skylander. He too help Gillbeard fight the Drow pirates alongside the other Skylanders.

Muddlefin LeGrand: Muddlefin idolizes him because he was the bravest pirate ever, and wants to be just like him, he even sacrificed his life to save Muddlefin. Muddlefin would always miss him, but with his pirate hat that he now wears, he would be in his heart and soul forever.
