Apparently neither did Angelia Jolie, her voice actress in the films, upon seeing the illustrations of the cast. She thought she was going to voice Viper, the character that clearly looked feminine. Of course Tigress' somewhat "manly" appearance has been a running joke in the tv show (example would be Crane's mother saying in an episode: "I thought you said the tiger was a girl")
I hope her character evolves in the film series to where she realizes that she can be both a strong warrior, and a beautiful woman.

Po is one truly lucky guy. I bet Shifu likely would tell Po and Tigress: "I would be a fool to forbid the two of you, two of China's greatest warriors, to pursue an intimate relationship.But I would also be a bigger fool if I permitted you both to continue to stay in the student barracks. As such, what was formerly the guest quarters is now your own private residence. It's a gift from me, but also a gift to the rest of us so we can get some sleep at night." :-)
